Cupping

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves suctioning glass cups onto the skin to help promote the flow of ‘qi’ (life force) in the body and restore balance. Cupping has many benefits, including:

  • Reduced inflammation
  • Increased blood flow
  • Promotion of cell repair
  • Relieving of muscle tension
  • Pain relief
  • Relaxation

During a cupping session, your therapist will place cups onto your skin and suction them in place using a pump. Cups are usually left on the body for 5-10 minutes. Cupping can cause the skin to bruise—this will look like round bruised circles on your skin. This is a normal part of the cupping process and should resolve within 3 days to a week.

Cupping is a safe and effective practice and can either be undertaken as an add-on to your regular massage therapy or done on its own.

Prices start from $40 for 30 minutes.
